New album "Kill Your Captor"!

MATREKIS was formed in St. Paul. Minnesota during October of 2009 with the goal of reviving and preserving the sound of roots metal. With influences ranging from the likes of Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Iron Maiden and Megadeth, Matrekis infuses power, drive and passion into every song. This produces an old-school metal sound that blends commanding vocals, heavy power chords, ripping guitar solos, thundering bass lines, and hammering drums into a unique variety of songs that leave you wanting more.
Matrekis has shared the stage with national touring artists such as Ross The Boss, Lizzy Borden, Lynch Mob, Faster Pussycat, Broken Teeth, ASKA, Cage. Ignitor, Texas Hippie Coalition, Emperors and Elephants, King Shifter, Screaming For Silence, Wayland, A.D.D., Digital Summer, Like A Storm and more.
Matrekis has performed in a variety of venues throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Some notable venues include: 7th Street Entry (1st Avenue) – Minneapolis, MN, Station 4 – St. Paul, MN, The Rock – Maplewood, MN, and The Redstone Room – Davenport, IA.
Matrekis has taken their shows from Hollywood, Ca. to the great state of Texas, encompassing the entire mid-west and more!
The drop of the long awaited “Kill Your Captor” full length album on June 24th, 2017, sees many new markets opening up. The summer will be capped by a high profile appearance at ROCK FEST 2017, where Hell Yeah will be playing prior to Matrekis taking the stage to close down the entire weekend festival.
Matrekis believes in community support and has participated in a variety of benefits, including a support benefit for The Guardians of the Children, and 2014 Metal for Life benefit which supports St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
